| New Officers Elected The Chapter Officers for year 2001, elected at the October meeting, are:
Congratulations to the new officers! We all look forward to in interesting, informative and fun year, filled with adventure and good fellowship. In addition, three staff members will serve to assist the officers. They are Sue Kalhoefer, Webmaster; Robert Harshman, Young Eagles Coordinator; and Fred Kalhoefer, Newsletter Editor. Chapter #1218 has elected strong, capable leadership, and is in good hands for the year 2001. We all need to give what support and encouragement we can to our new leadership team, and make 2001 our best year ever! |

| Other than the election of Officers for
the new year, here is some of what has been happening
since last meeting: Fred and Sue Kalhoefer are the proud owners of a Piper PA-38-112 Tomahawk! They will keep it hangared at Mansfield, MO. Fred will be brought back up to flying status by our own Bill Newton, and Sue will begin her lessons with Bill as soon as the medical exams have been taken. Congratulations to Fred and Sue. They will be trained correctly and efficiently with "Fig" Newton in the right seat! The left wing of Len Ahrnsbrak's RV-6 is out of the jig and ready for the aileron and flap to be installed. The main and rear spars for the right wing are being jigged up. President Clint Allen bucked 379 rivets one day recently to get the wing ready to remove from the jig. Thanks to his long arms and understanding of the proper use of bucking bars, the job was a pleasure. It is good to know that good, competent help is available when needed. Thanks, Clint, for a job well done! Several joined our MPA friends for a fly-out to breakfast at Horseshoe Bend, AR, recently. Due to a golf tournament scheduled on the day of the fly-out, it was necessary for Jerry Luna and Marilyn Tilley to join Len and Jean Ahrnsbrak to check out the airstrip and food the day ahead. We found both acceptable, so much so that Jerry and Marilyn joined the MPA for a return trip the following day. On a sad note, Bill Ghan fell from a ladder while cleaning fall leaves from the rain gutters and cracked his pelvis where it forms the socket for his right hip. Lets keep Bill in our thoughts, prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery. |

| November Meeting Announcement | |
| The November
meeting is to be held on Monday
the 13th at 7:00 PM at Gainesville High School. Kevin Bunch will present a program, which is receiving a lot of attention and emphasis from the FAA, on runway incursions. In light of the Singapore Airlines tragedy, it is a timely and necessary topic for our consideration. This is a correction to the previous announcement that Ed the Fed Duckworth would be here for the November meeting. It was not possible for him to make it this month. OK, so clear your calendars for Monday the 13th and plan on joining us for Kevins program. Of course, there will be coffee and goodies from the ladies in the chapter during the break. See you then. |
