New Editor
Hello, my name is Fred Kalhoefer and I am your newsletter editor for the year 2001. One of the first things I learned in the service was to never volunteer for anything. However this time I volunteered because I believe that if we want chapter 1218 of the EAA to succeed, we all have a job somewhere in our organization, and that we should not rely only on those that have gotten us this far to carry the burden of managing and planning, but that we all should take on some of the responsibilities of running the chapter. My sincere thanks to all of you that have done this before me.

This month we have a very short newsletter because there is not much news to report. I hope that in the coming months, as I become more familiar with my job, you will find lots of news in these pages, maybe more news than you really want to know.

December Meeting
The December meeting will be, as usual, on the second Monday of the month in Gainesville the high school and will start at 7:00 PM sharp. The officers for the year 2001 will be introduced again and Mike Swink will make a presentation on the enclosed-cockpit ultralight that he is building.

Winter Meeting Suggestion
I received an e-mail from one of our members in which he suggested that we hold our meetings in the winter months on a Saturday morning rather than at night when traveling is sometimes dangerous. Those of us who have airplanes could fly in, weather permitting, and others could drive in. We could have a breakfast together and plan our activities for the nicer months of the year. This is also something that will be discussed at the December meeting. Unfortunately due to a prior commitment Susan, my wife, and I cannot attend the meeting, but I can tell you that I am strongly in favor of Saturday morning meetings during those months when the weather is frequently inclement. Please give this idea some thought and think of some good activities for a morning meeting. I believe this would also boost attendance.

Christmas is Coming...
My wife and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a blessed Christmas and happiness and good health in the coming year.

December Meeting Announcement
The December meeting is to be held on Monday the 11th at 7:00 PM at Gainesville High School. See you then.

Updating...
If anyone has a new e-mail address since about a year ago, or if you are a new member, please send your current e-mail address to the Webmaster, Sue Kalhoefer. Thank you all. And please be thinking about doing a write-up on your homebuilding project.
