November 5, 2011 26 members and guests
Following the burger and hot dog cookout the meeting was called to order by President White.
A motion to approve the minutes as published was made by Benny Butler, second by Doc Openshaw and approved.
In the absence of Treasurer Jim Vokac, the report was given by Vice President Berlin Batesel. A motion to approve was made by Henny Christensen, second by Brent Humphreys and approved.
President White thanked the grill cooks and members for bring potluck dishes. A big thank you was also extended to the “5th Saturday pancake breakfast” cooks and participants.
Last week member Wayne Casey went to D.C. on the Honor Flight. Last year the chapter made a sizeable contribution to Honor Flight; it is good to know someone locally received the benefit.
The chapter website now has the Kitty Middleton video put together by Henny for the open house.
All members are encouraged to attend the FAA Safety seminar on November 30th at the EAA hangar. Secretary White will send a reminder e-mail.
Members were reminded to change their clocks tonight; now it will be dark at 5 pm.
The December 10th meeting will be a traditional holiday set menu. Phyllis White and John Good have volunteered to cook turkeys; members will be asked to bring specific dishes. We will eat at “3ish” with the business meeting and annual awards to follow. President White said John Good should be “volunteer of the month”, when something needs to be done, John is there.
Members were thanked for bringing non-perishables to donate to M.U.N.C.H. The need is greater this year than ever before. There are over four hundred families signed up for assistance. Let’s bring donations again to the December meeting.
Several members that normally attend meetings are absent: David and Lisa Johnson are attending their son’s wedding in California and the Vaughns are covering a state volleyball tournament. John DeRoos is attending a safety seminar at Mtn. Home. He recently attended a Stewart Systems covering seminar in Illinois. Perhaps at a later date, he would give us some insight on that fabric covering system.
EAA Chapter 59 has updated the status of their Wag Aero Sport Trainer raffle. They have now sold 306 of their 1500 tickets with the drawing to be held April, 2012.
Phyllis White asked members if they would be interested in saving Best Choice labels for cash. Non-profit organizations receive $30 for each 1,000 labels. Janet Brantely said the first 1,000 collected actually is $60.
A motion to adjourn was made by Doc Openshaw, second by Al Grant. Members were reminded to stick around for the welding demonstration by Benny Butler.
On a personal note, President White thanked Clint Allen, Bob Brantley and John Good for delivering wood since he is still recovering from surgery.
