The executive board, Pietenpol head builders and LLC members met August 26th to determine delivery costs and how many members it would require to reassemble and do his requested three takeoffs and landings if the Piet was sold to the Wisconsin interested party.  An agreement has not been made yet.  Berlin has several other interested parties to contact.

Vice President Berlin Batesel reported the Pascoe bi-plane will need the fabric replaced after all.  The wings cleaned up really well but on further inspection, rodent nests were found inside.

Member and author Jim Tausworthe has donated copies of his latest and final Cade McCane mystery novel “The Star of India”.  Copies are $15.

The cooks were thanked for the great dishes and Mike White for grilling the burgers.

The nominating committee that was to be formed at the August meeting (it was formed later since it was forgotten then) consists of Clint Allen, Bob Brantley and Jerry Pfister.  Bob reminded members than anyone can still come up and be nominated for next month’s election.  He is expecting a stampede.  Bob presented the slate of officers as president: Tom White, vice president: Berlin Batesel, secretary: Phyllis White, treasurer: David Johnson (Jim Vokac does not want to continue as treasurer another year) and member at large: Jerry Pfister.  Voting will be during the annual meeting following the open house October 8th.  President White also reminded members that nominations from the floor would be accepted at that time.

Phyllis White reported the plans for open house.  The committee has not been able to meet due to Sandy Smith being out of town for surgery, Don Nevels at aerobatic competitions but she and Bill Ghan have talked some.  She has been working on plans and has gotten several things completed such as the insurance is in place, the calendar of events has been submitted to EAA, Fly Low, Midwest Flyer, GA News, AOPA, avweb.com, KY3, KOLR.  Invitations have been sent to all area EAA and MPA chapters.  She has submitted an article to Fly Low also.  The simplest plan is to follow last year’s success.  Burgers, baked beans, cole slaw and drinks will be provided by the chapter.  Members bring morning snacks and desserts.  Open House is 10 AM – 2 PM, burger cookout at noon.  We will pay tribute to Mountain Grove native wing-walker Kitty Middleton.  Member Don Nevels will be on hand to sign and sell “Wings, Dreams and Memories”.  We will sell raffle tickets on the biplane mailbox.  Short annual meeting and clean-up immediately after.  It is suggested members wear their chapter t-shirt or blue oxford shirt and khakis.  Marge Allen will be manning the nametag and guest registration table.  Volunteers are needed for several positions; reminder e-mail requests will be sent closer to the event.

Zenith, Mexico, MO will have their annual open house Friday, and Saturday, September 16 and 17.  A flyer is available if interested in attending.

October 1 is the annual Oz Fall Fest.  The chapter has booth space rented.  Marge Allen, Henny Christensen and Jerry Pfister had volunteered earlier to man the booth and simulator.  Volunteers are still needed.  Henny was not present today due to choosing to attend her 50th class reunion instead of the meeting.  Hmmmm.   Jack Richardson also absent is attending his 69th class reunion.

There will be no breakfast Saturday, October 1 due to White Industries annual company picnic preparation that morning.

President White reminded members the November meeting is held on the first Saturday due to deer season starting date.

October 15 is the MPA Chapter 20 poker run.  The two $50 fuel certificates that were to be given during the canceled spring event still stand.  Secretary White will check on the expiration date; new certificates may need to be printed with a 6 month expiration date.

Secretary White sent all members a forwarded note from EAA Chapter44 asking everyone to vote for them to receive a $10,000 grant from Lightspeed Aviation Foundation.  Of the twenty finalists, they are the only EAA chapter.  Voting ends September 16th.  Check out their website www.eaa44.org and note the photo of the kiddie train pulled by an “airplane “.

EAA Chapter 59, Waco, Texas is raffling a Wag Aero Sport Trainer.  Tickets are $100.  For details see the e-mail received.

A workday to prep for open house will be Saturday, September 24, 8 AM.  Volunteers include John Smith, Carl Everhart, Jim Vokac, Ron White, Tom Bentele, Jerry Pfister, Mike White, Al and Linda Grant and Tom and Phyllis White.  All members are encouraged to help out.

As airport manager, Jim Vokac received a federal notice to be extra aware of suspicious activity on 9-11.  He said if anyone sees any normal activity at the airport to let him know because that would be peculiar.

Janet Brantley has donated the flag given to her at her brother’s recent funeral service.  Janet asked if it may be draped over the hangar railing during events.  It is an indoor flag only.
