July 9th, 2011 29 members present for breakfast potluck.

Motion to approve the minutes as published was made by Tom Bentele, second by James Wiley and approved.

Treasure Jim Vokac gave the financial report.  Motion to approve was made by Mike Vaughn, second by Clint Allen.

President White thanked the cooks for the great breakfast and reminded of the donation jar.

The Willow Springs 4th of July celebration was a big success.  There were several pilots for the parade flyover, the parade float was well received with balsa airplanes thrown along the parade route and Doc Openshaw and Jerry Pfister drove their antique cars.  Over 70 enjoyed the smoked meat provided by Ron White, the great potluck sides and home-made ice cream then the firing of the anvil and cannon.

The MPA booth at Sky Fire was not as successful as hoped due to the uncooperative weather.  There were burger patties left over.  James Wiley suggested the chapter purchase some at cost for future meetings.  Shannon and Jeff North donated to the chapter the large easy-up tent we borrowed for the event.

Jim Tausworthe continues to move from the hospital to the nursing home and back.  We hope for a speedy recovery.

Janet Brantley lost her brother this week.  The service will be Tuesday in Mansfield.

The LLC received a notice from Missouri Department of Revenue regarding use tax on the Pietenpol.

Phyllis White received a note from Jean Pascoe.    The home she and Gene built in Dora burned to the ground.  No details available at this time.

Scott Smith is selling Jerry’s Super Decathlon.

West Plains Daily Quill reporter Kelly Parrish will be doing a special interest feature on the chapter and the Pietenpol project.    Members with experimental home-builts (Benny Butler, Bob Brantley, David Johnson and John Smith)are asked to be present for photos.  He will also be visiting the Allen’s Jenny project.

The next meeting will be August 13th.  Motion by Bob Brantley, second by John Smith to have burgers at noon.  The Whites plan to be out of town; Sharon Vaughn will take the minutes.

Saturday, July 30th will be 5th Saturday pancake breakfast at the hangar.  Benny Butler suggested a note inviting other chapters.

We now have some Kitty Middleton photos for the Open House.  Other plans for the event have not been finalized.

Tom Bentele said it was good to see Bill Ghan back in good health.   He has been back working on the Jenny project for the past couple of weeks.

Sue L ‘Hommedieu introduced new chapter member Larry Johnson, Lemont, Illinois.  We also welcomed member Pat Storm.  She joined the chapter in October but had not been able to attend since then.  She is now moving to Cabool and has bought an airplane.

Motion to adjourn was made by Lynn Bentele, second by Bob Brantley and approved by members.
