The December, 2008 meeting was called to order following the festive and delicious Christmas meal with 53 members and guests present.  The delicious free range turkey was given to Clint Allen by the Protivas, Peace Valley for doing some flying for their home schooled children and the turkey was baked by Marge Allen.  Ron White provided and baked the ham.  The $50 donated by Kent Clotfelter for the ham and turkey will be used at a later date.  A big thank you was extended for all the donations and the cooks for their efforts.  Phyllis White was thanked for the decorations.  A big thank you was given to Marge Allen for making the red Santa booties used as table favors.  Members may take them home if they wish.

President White welcomed Wilson Craig back after recuperating from his motorcycle accident and welcomed our visitor from the North Pole (North Pole, Alaska Ray Fine’s son).

A motion to approve the minutes as published, was made by Al Grant, seconded and accepted by membership present.

The treasurer’s report given by Jim Vokac was approved as reported.  Motion to approve was made by Eric Fremgen, second by Gene Pascoe and approved by membership present.  Dues are due – single $10, couple $15.  Secretary White received a note, stamps and a check from member Robert Harshman.  He paid his dues and donated $240 to the chapter and said he was thankful to receive the newsletter by mail each month.

Jim Tausworthe has published a new Cade McCain mystery “The Long Road to China” and donated 10 copies to the chapter.  They sell for $10.  The back cover photo was taken by chapter member Ron White on a fishing trip.

President White thanked the members for bringing canned goods to donate to M.U.N.C.H. for their holiday baskets.  They will be greatly appreciated.

When warmer weather arrives, there will be a memorial held at the hangar for Jerry Smith.  Sandy has not received official word as to the cause of the accident.  An aviation scholarship fund has been established in Jerry’s honor by Ed Roberts.  No details are available at this time.

The next meeting will be January 10th; program by Clint Allen on weight and balance.  The program will be held in the warm meeting room not the shop.  Clint suggested a 4 PM meeting time.  There were no volunteers to plan a meal so light refreshments (cookies & coffee) will be served.

President White noted that in 2009 he would be leaning on more people for help.  There are things that have to be done as property owners.  He wants members to get their volunteer mode going and when he asks for volunteers for something, he wants to see several hands go up.

Each year national sends certificates and pins for the officers from the previous year.  It gives a chance to recognize those that volunteer services to the chapter.  This year’s certificates were presented to:

Young Eagle Coordinator – Eric Fremgen

Technical Counselor – Clint Allen

Secretary – Phyllis White

Treasurer – Jim Vokac

Vice President – Berlin Batesel

President – Tom White

Newsletter & Web Editor – Sue L’Hommedieu

Sue is retiring from both positions this year with nine years web editor and eight years newsletter editor.  President White asked for a photo of Sue passing the newsletter to the new editor Brent Humphreys.  Sue mentioned the newsletter was started by charter member Lyn Ahnsbrak who is now an honorary member.  He has stopped flying and sold his airplane and is no longer an instructor.  He named the newsletter “On Top” and when he passed it on to Sue he asked that the name remain the same.  Sue said she hates to give it up but since she misses so many meetings being out of the area, the time has come.  She asked that we give Brent the support we have given her.

Al Grant mentioned he has been watching television prices and they are continuing to go lower.  President White has also been looking and traditionally the prices go even lower after Super Bowl.

Ron White mentioned visiting member Ted Businger recently.  He is having some health problems.

A motion to adjourn was made by Bill Ghan, second by Benny Butler and approved by membership.  Cleanup and fellowship followed.
