Bill Ghan writes to update on the Status of the Pietenpol Project.

Aa of today, the fuselage all welded and is nearly ready to prime.  We need to complete fittings to mount the gas tank and make the gas shut off rod.  Berlin Batesel is welding the tank at this time.  The first two items await the tank at this time.

Bob Brantley and crew are busy on both wings and the center section.  The left wing and center sesction have been fitted together.  A good week of work should see the wings nearly completed.

We only have four more weeks to work.  When fabric covering is started, we really need a lot of help, to get the job done.  Basically, help gluing fabric to the structure and adding tapes, inspection rings, etc.  Covering the wings requires a lot of rib stiching, whish is easy to learn but takes a lot of time.  About twenty stitches per rib times thirty ribs, making six hundred stiches.  See why we need the help?

 Also, a note from Phylis

We plan to put the Pietenpol fuselage on the float for the parade.  I have banners ordered to put on each side that say "We are building a Pietenpol.  For info 469-4212."  I am going to submit an article to our local paper to run Wednesday to generate more local interest.

I have created a photo sharing group for EAA 1218 on Flickr.  If you are a flickr user (free) you can add your own photos to the EAA 1218 group to share.  I have uploaded many of the photos given to me, to this site.
