Young Eagles: The purpose of a Young Eagles flight is to introduce young people to the world of aviation early so they may consider whether they are interested in aviation (or a related field) as a career choice, or as a recreational pursuit. Young Eagles must be between the ages of 8 and 17 and have written permission from a parent or legal guardian on the provided application form, then receive some orientation before the flight. All Young Eagles will be enrolled in the “World’s Largest Logbook” on the EAA Young Eagles web page. Over one million Young Eagles were enrolled by the Centennial of Aviation on December 17, 2003. Chapter 1218 logged over 1000 of those Young Eagles. Young Eagles Rallies are held during the warm months of the year. Or you may contact the Young Eagles Coordinator and make arrangements for a flight on an individual basis. A typical Young Eagles Rally is depicted on the Chapter 1218 Young Eagles page. |

Since all aviation activities are highly dependent on the weather, a rally will not be held if the weather is stormy, visibility is restricted, or wind or temperature is excessive. |
